Half term marks the start of the holiday season in the UK and when we go away many of us choose the coast to kick back and relax.
The coastal interior design look is the epitome of summer décor and that’s why we love it so much – but you don’t have to be overtly nautical to create a coastal theme at home, instead think more subtle coastal hues that will inject a splash of the seaside into your rooms.
Take your inspiration from nature – blue sky of course, golden sands, drift wood, pebbles, seashells – whatever you associate with the seaside.
Or, you may prefer a brighter, kiss me quick seaside theme – think of the stripes of a traditional deckchair – the primary colours found in a bucket and spade and the the golden yellow of the sun.
Once you have the colour scheme sorted with a few well chosen soft furnishings, there are some fabulous seaside accessories in the shops right now.
Or create your own – a jar full of sand and pebbles or driftwood in the fireplace – happy holidays.
The rugs featured above are Sunset (Noursion Contour), Sand (Gabbeh), Sea (Vibrance) and Deckchair (Vibrance)
Have fun in the sun!
