New rug collections at FrithRugs

Here at FrithRugs, we are always adding to rug collections.  We have some exciting new rugs in for the A/W season for both the neutralist and the dramatist - whatever your interior design style we think you'll love our new rugs.

Distinctive for the discering

The Distinctive Collection feature dappled neutral colours that are the perfect complement to a sophisticated interior.  The rugs are imbued with a subtle sheen to add luxury to any room.

Vintage grey

Our Vintage rug collection features this year’s must have colour – grey - and uses abstract and wild designs.  If you love contemporary, you'll love this look, which together with the soft, luxurious texture will be a sure fire winner in any modern room set.

Feeling heavenly with our Palette collection

The painterly tones found in the swirling colours of this rug range is reminiscent of a painter's palette.  These area rugs made in Turkey convey all the movement of the skies and are the ideal accessory when you want your rug to be the focal point of a room.  They are also very hard wearing and easy to clean.

Dynamic rugs

Another striking design can be found in our Dynamic rugs which boast daring 3D-like designs.  Hand tufted from a sumptuous wool blend and woven with gently shimmering silk-like fibres, these radiant  rugs create an amazing sense of depth and texture.

Introduce a touch of India at home

Very fine Indo Persian rug

Well summer is officially almost at an end and at this time of year, many people will be hoping for an Indian summer.

Here at FrithRugs, the home of traditional rugs, we know that Indian designs remain bang on trend whatever the time of year. If you want a touch of India at home, one of the quickest and easiest ways to introduce a flavour of India to any room is with the addition of an Indian rug.

India is a hugely diverse nation and so it stands to reason there is not really one single style that will reflect it.  With a culture that is thousands of years old, it’s not difficult to introduce Indian influences - there are such a lot to choose from and as the home of traditional rugs, you will find lots of Indian collections and designs to choose from.

Traditional rugs

From the exceptional detail found in our Fine Indo Persian collection rugs for the discerning buyer, to the Keshan collection which uses designs from original Persian patterns and are available in convenient hall runners as well as a variety of sizes and specifications.  Browse our collections to find a rug to suit your home.

Modern rugs

And we haven’t forgotten those who want a more modern Indian rug.  We have a collection of bold, bright Kelims which complement the block colours found in our Dhurrie flat weave rugs, both collections feature wool woven onto cotton.  The dazzling colours found in these rugs have been inspired by Holi, 'The Festival of Colours', which is celebrated by people smearing each other with primary coloured powder and dye.

In fact, India is all about colour.  We love all the colours found in our Indian rugs - they remind us of the spices that India is so famous for.  Bright red, burnt orange, sunny yellow, it’s not hard to reinvigorate a boring British lounge with an exotic taste of India.  Once you have your rug in-situ, select a couple of colours from that and use it to add a couple more Indian pieces.

Perhaps the classic Buddha, or some paisley patterned cushions and throws on the sofa?  Don’t forget some well-placed metal hanging lamps or tea light holders and some hand painted elephant ornaments.

Now you can enjoy your very own Indian summer!

What's hot for Spring/Summer 2015?

If the fashion industry has ‘the little black dress’ as its eternal, never ageing piece, our little black dress equivalent has to be our traditional rug designs, which remain consistently popular in homes big and small, modern and traditional.

But interior design, just like the catwalk, does have its trends and so we have scoured the news to see what top interior designers are saying is going to be the next big thing for Spring/Summer 2015 in the home.

According to an article in The Wall Street Journal, ‘painterly rugs’ are going to be big. Well that’s quite handy as our exclusive Ella Claire range includes a ‘floor paintings’ collection which feature visually fluid bold patterns. They are hand knotted in India and made from 80% wool and 20% silk which means they look and feel fabulous.  These rugs work particularly well in rectangular rooms and will break up your furniture into clearly defined zones.

Many interior designers say that the colour blue is going to be very popular.  What shade of blue? Well think moody blue and dark blue.  If you choose a blue rug shade, accessorise with white  or even silver to create a sophisticated living room or bedroom.

Kelly Hoppen says that mixing your metals is now acceptable.  She believes mixing warm metals, such as copper and rose gold, with cool ones like silver is bang on trend.  So dressing a room using just bronze or silver looks too staged, now you can mix and match to your hearts content.  As always, even in a modern, industrial themed space, a well selected rug will pull the look together. We think our contemporary shaggy rugs will do the job perfectly!

Finally, we Brits will also continue our passion for merging our outdoor and indoor living space when we can.  Summer houses, log cabins and conservatories continue to be big business and in these spring and summer spaces themes that work well include rustic and natural so  use wooden furniture with slate or stone accessories.

Or maybe you prefer a Mediterranean vibe – if so use colours that
are traditionally sunny such as orange and yellow.

Alternatively, you may prefer blurring the lines between the outside and the inside, in which case opt for accessories that reflect what’s happening in a well-tended garden, like this gorgeous floral rug from our Brink & Campman - Kaleidoscope range.

What do you think is hot for the coming year – we’d love to know.
