Welcome spring by refreshing your home's interior design

It feel like it’s been a long time coming but this week, spring officially arrives.

This is traditionally the time of year to spring clean the house and get it ready for the arrival of a new season. It’s also the ideal time to think about a fresh new look for your interiors and one of the quickest and easiest ways to do that is by changing your soft furnishings.

Start refreshing your home interior with a new rug and take it from there.  FrithRugs has added some gorgeous colours to our Lippa Plain carved collection and these are ideal for spring/summer – orange, yellow, blue, lilac – you are sure to find a shade you like.

Once you have your new rug in place, everything else should complement it – fresh flowers or flowering plants, cushions and a new lampshade is all you need to give your home a spring facelift.

Spring/summer interior trends 2018

What's hot for your spring/summer interiors in 2018?

Well we say what's hot - perhaps we should be saying what's cool - ice cream cool as Gelato colours are going to be a huge trend this year.  So what's your favourite ice cream, vanilla, mint, pistachio, strawberry?  Now you can surround yourself with the flavours you love.

Gelato

The ice cream palette doesn't have to be a single colour either, who doesn't love layers of delicious ice cream like a Neapolitan - you
have it as a feature wall or just combine the colours using some well chosen accessories.

You can find vanilla, mint and strawberry in our plain carved range of rugs - and these plain rugs are perfect for pulling your interior design scheme together.

Gold

In 2017 the metallic trend was all the rage and it's still here but this time the metal of choice of gold.  Gold is softer than silver which makes it easier to use in your home decor.  It's also very
decadent and so the trick is to use sparingly.  This fabulous gold rug doesn't need too much as it could be overwhelming, perhaps a new gold trimmed mirror, a couple of gold framed windows and a gold lamp base.

Totally tropical

If you fancy going tropical then the trick is to layer different colours.  So use different coloured throws and cushions, think bright pink, yellow and blue.  Then choose a couple of tropical prints and pair with this fabulous tropical rug.   There really is                    no better way to say goodbye winter and hello summer then creating your own tropical paradise indoors.

Interiors for Spring 16

Interior design colours for Spring 2016

This week we are taking our inspiration from Pantone, who each season provide their interpretation of must have colours.  These colours are usually taken from the cat walk and then interpreted for interiors.

Here are some of our favourites from the palette.

Serenity blue – is calming and provides security.  Our advice is to use this blue in the bedroom where calm and peace will help you wind down at night and ease you into sleep.  This is also a great colour to mix with deep blue or white and will always give your room an air of elegance.

Fiesta on other hand is anything but calm.  This strong vivid shade is perfect for the dining room of the lounge – any room where you want to interact with people and socialize.  Fiesta would look good in large spaces with high ceilings and plenty of natural light – and should be used sparingly in small rooms.

And for those people who prefer something more neutral – iced coffee is the shade for you.  This colour is really versatile and can be used across the home in any room.  The shade is particularly adaptable and can either be the background for a neutral palette or combined with something brighter such as pink.

Now that spring is finally here and summer is just around the corner, many people like to give their home a fresh new look.  But you don’t have to spend thousands to do it - remember, one of the quickest and easiest ways to give any room a different look is simply by introducing a new rug.

We’ve decided to take our inspiration from interiors magazines to see what they recommend for the latest looks this season.

Florals

My Weekly magazine suggests bringing spring indoors with bright, light stylish touches.  It recommends this floral rug which features these lovely large blooms in pastel colours and is available in our Tropics range.  Another good idea from the article is to bring some cute bistro sets inside.  Many large DIY stores offer pastel coloured table and chair sets at a reasonable price.

Period Ideas magazine is also taking its inspiration from          the garden.  In a feature about the latest news, inspirational    ideas and expert advice on the great outdoors, they have     also been inspired by our floral collections.  They propose some retail therapy and bringing the outdoors in with a pretty floral home accessory and suggest this floral rug from our Kaleidoscope range will do the trick.

Horse & Countryside magazine has also taken a look at floral inspired accessories to make your home décor blossom.  They have selected this rug from our Ella Claire Botanical range which is exclusive to us.  They have also found some beautiful accessories including a lovely artificial wreath of spring flowers.  Great idea. (Oh and by the way there is 20% off this rug between 3 - 19 April 2015)

                                                     Bright and Beautiful

Our friends over at Cheshire Life magazine says that winter rooms will now feel a little dull and advises freshening them up with a splash of Mediterranean colour.  They suggest this Vibrance rug which ‘throws down the gauntlet to spring’.  They also advise on introducing some colourful lighting which if you do decide to go bold will complement the colours in this rug.

Painterly

Meanwhile Making Magazine has been looking at new trends and as we have written about previously, its trend spotter page has gone to town on the painterly fashion that has been seen on the catwalks.  Journalist Abi Cox has come up with ideas to translate this trend to the home and has selected our Holograph rug.  She also includes some fabulous ‘painterly’ cushions which you can add to complete the look.

So freshen up your house with one of our rugs and then throw in a couple more accessories, from a new light or lamp to new cushions - and before you know it your winter home will be transformed into a space that is perfect for the forthcoming warm and sunny months.
